HISTORY

The Cooper’s Crossing Residents’ Association (CCRA) was formed in 1999 by the Cooper’s Crossing Joint Venture as a Residents’ Association which would be responsible for the maintenance of certain amenities, and in some cases, ownership of those amenities, located in the Cooper’s Crossing Lands. The Association is a private, not-for-profit corporation registered under the Alberta Companies Act, is governed by Articles of Association and has its own board of directors elected by the residents of Cooper’s Crossing to represent the community’s interests.

As a condition of purchase, every homeowner in Cooper’s Crossing is obligated to pay regular fees to the Association. These fees are necessary to fund the operations of the Association and the maintenance and operation of the amenities. The operations of the Association may be expanded to include other functions which are of common benefit to members.

From 1999 to 2016, the CCRA was managed by Westmark Holdings Ltd., developer of Cooper’s Crossing. During this time community events, enhanced park maintenance, a community newsletter and community enhancement projects were established. As the community continued to grow, a management company was hired (Condo First/FirstService Residential) to administer the collection of dues. In 2014, the CCRA changed management bodies to Astoria Asset Management Ltd., an Airdrie based company.

In 2016, residents of Cooper’s Crossing began the process of assuming the management of the Cooper’s Crossing Residents’ Association. The first resident-led Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held at the Cooper’s Crossing School on May 27, 2017 at which time a board was elected by community residents. The executive positions include President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. In addition to executive positions, three liaison positions were created; Municipal Liaison, Communications Liaison and Special Events Coordinator.

MISSION/VISION
In 2018, the Cooper’s Crossing Residents’ Association board undertook a strategic planning session. From that session, a vision and mission for the CCRA were developed.

CCRA Vision

“Build a sense of community and maintain our status as the best place to live in Airdrie.”

CCRA Mission

“Build our community and grow a sense of pride in it.”

Community Consultation

In December 2018, the CCRA asked residents of Cooper’s Crossing to complete an online survey. The intent of the survey was to provide the resident-led Board of Directors with insight into what members of the community believed about the following:

1. CCRA purpose and scope
2. Past and potential future participation of community members in
support of CCRA activities
3. Preferences for ongoing and future CCRA activities.

* The following does not include results from the survey questions related to the new CCRA website as these have already been incorporated into the website design.

The following document will outline, at a high level, what we heard from the 65 respondents.

CCRA_Survey Results 2018 Report

The CCRA board plans to continue to survey its residents annually as it wishes to engage the community and be responsive to their feedback.
